W.8.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.

  • Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and point of view and introducing a narrator or characters; organize a sequence of events that unfolds naturally and logically.

  • Use dialogue, pacing, description and reflection to develop experiences, events and/or characters

  • Use transition words and phrases to signal shifts from one time frame to another

  • Contain a lesson, moral or theme that speaks to the reader

  • Provide a conclusion that follows from and reflects on the narrated experiences or events.

 

      What did you do well with this writing work?  What strengthen did you demonstrate in your learning.

 

I used flashbacks and I showed the different changes in the characters emotion. 

 

      What did you struggle with during this writing work, both academically and with your learning behaviors?

 

I got distracted a little bit and it took time for me to choose the stroy I wanted to write about

 

      How did you grow as a writer during this process? What are you proud of in regard to your writing and learning?

 

I used a metaphor of a poisonous arrow, which showed myself that I was growing

 

      How do you think you did in regard to mastering the writing standards listed above?

If you could go back and revise one more time, what would you want to change about your writing?

 

I would've changed the "stuff" into more of a symbolic word to discribe my feelings

 

      What feedback do you have for Mr. Sessoms in regard to this unit?  What would you want him to do differently to help you?
